When I realized that I often drift forward in time for a few seconds while dreaming, I began using lucid dreaming techniques to keep my mind more present and aware. The sense of two minds, which are both my own, is most palpable when my waking mind experiences it, but helps me identify the dream as more than a dream when I'm dreaming of a future moment. I have even managed to extend the time I can hold the moment and share decisions with both selves.
